SpongeBob's 'ACT LIKE A SPONGE Campaign'
For Nickelodeon’s 25th Anniversary of SpongeBob SquarePants, I led the development of a multi-faceted campaign emphasizing marine conservation called 'Act Like A Sponge', honoring both the beloved character and his creator's background in marine biology.
Key Initiatives:
Aquarium Partnerships and Social Media Assets: Collaborated with aquariums nationwide to inspire families to engage in climate action through special activations celebrating SpongeBob’s legacy, running from July 15 to September 15, 2024.As part of this collaboration, I helped develop social assets for the aquarium's to use on their social media pages to announce the partnership.
Community Engagement: Encouraged families to participate in local cleanup efforts via Ocean Conservancy’s Clean Swell® app, making it easy to track their impact.
Pledge to Protect: Our work emphasized Paramount's overall commitment to remove 5 million pounds of plastic from waterways by 2027, already achieving over 1.5 million pounds collected through global cleanup efforts. I helped lead efforts to drive to Ocean Conservancy's Clean Swell app so people could join and contribute to the work.
Funding Support: Partnered with ChangeX to offer grants for family-led environmental projects, fostering grassroots initiatives.
Interactive Inspiration: Created the SPONGE-SPIRATION GEN-O-RATOR on Nick.com/Our-World to motivate families to take action, whether through cleanups or acts of kindness.
This campaign not only celebrated a cultural icon but also actively engaged the community in environmental stewardship, embodying the spirit of SpongeBob by promoting fun, education, and action.
